Do I need to set a daily OutRun May target or a monthly one?

Your overall OutRun target should be the number of miles you plan to OutRun over the whole month. For example, if you want to run a mile a day, your OutRun May target is 30 miles.

 

Are there any registration or participation fees?

No it’s completely free. OutRun is a big commitment on your part so we don’t charge you any extras.

Can I participate in OutRun from overseas?

Yes of course. We’d love the world to get involved so sign up today.

Can I OutRun May as part of a team?

The more the merrier! Just set up a joint fundraising page and decide your mileage and donation targets. We’ve got loads of handy tools to help you all share your challenge.

What if I don’t hit my mileage target?

You don’t need to hit specific targets to donate to OutRun. But our research shows that people who set targets are more likely to go further, so we’d certainly recommend it.

What happens if I’m injured?

If you get injured during your OutRun challenge or while you're training for it, contact a GP, physio or specialist sports injury clinic. They’ll be able to tell you whether or not you’re fit to carry on running.

Do I have to run every day?

Absolutely not. In fact we recommend that you incorporate rest days into your month of running to stay injury-free.

How can I receive donations?

Set up a personalised JustGiving page and nominate Macmillan as your chosen charity. We'll guide you through this process as part of your OutRun signup. All income is transferred directly to us so it’s a really easy way for people to sponsor you and send messages of support.

Share your page on Facebook and Twitter to spread the word to all your friends and family.

How will Macmillan use the funds I've raised?

Your money will help us to ensure that no one has to face cancer alone. You can find out more information at Macmillan Cancer Support.

 

What if I don't hit my fundraising target?

There’s no minimum fundraising requirement for OutRun, but of course every pound raised is hugely important to the work we do.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid allows charities like Macmillan to claim back the basic tax that HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) deduct from donations. It’s potentially worth hundreds of thousands of pounds per year extra to us.

Am I eligible to add Gift Aid to my donation?

You can add Gift Aid to your donation if you’re a UK taxpayer. The amount of Gift Aid you give can’t be more than the amount you’re paying in Income and/or Capital Gains Tax for the current tax year (6 April to 5 April). VAT and Council Tax don’t count.

Gift Aid effectively gives Macmillan a 25p tax rebate on every £1 that you give.

Can I take cash donations?

Although JustGiving is the easiest way to give and collect donation money, we realise it’s not possible for everybody. You can pay offline donations directly into your JustGiving page; however we won’t be able to claim Gift Aid on them. Ask your donor to fill out a sponsorship form to make their donation go that bit further.
